I found this book in a state of surrender to the confusion of my local bookstore, lost in a gibberish independent hardware. I took it home and asked my purchase until I tried to obtain information from other sources, about five TCM and I felt totally confused. TCM can be very difficult to understand, let alone explain, without the direction of such a clear understanding as Dr. Fan. Lots of books on traditional Chinese medicine is not a clear line of explanation will follow and get lost in the confusing similarity and interchangeability of terms may be found in many sources, but Dr. Fan never know what light scientific, a bit dry at times, he never lets the reader into the void, but he returns to himself, to ensure understanding. His presentation was truly a great service to TCM, as it does not completely esoteric sounding, tried and trite pseudo-explanations found elsewhere, and shows how TCM is a science, integrated science of logic. Even obscure terms as “disrespect” of the five phases are clearly explained. The differential diagnosis is covered step by step, and Dr. Fan shows again that it has expanded duties by collecting and clear correlations have been between all stages of the main TCM diagnostic techniques. The explanations are short, but they are sure that the starting point and reference for students pursuing a thorough knowledge of TCM. For those who are being considered TCM, and for students already in semi-English by writers whose use of language is its weakness horrific work of Dr. Fan is my recommendation lost. And for all practitioners of TCM, give this book a reading, you’ll find it in a renewed sense of scientific consistency and depth of the MTC at its best.
